Wednesday Day and South

It is strange how one day pretty much blends with the next, and it is just as well we have a clock that tells us what day and date it is, or we would lose track completely.

We were up early with the alarm, meaning to go early, this morning.

Another red sky this morning.

Waz is washing the chain as it comes in, as we took the anchor up.
One or two other boats passed us before we entered the channel. Not much water under us, as you can see.

And we are off under our first bridge of the day.

Nice neighbors!

This Osprey has the best seat...or is it just that they like sign posts, since they always seem to be perched on them.

This must be Florida Style.

This is Bar-B...We found her this morning, after we crossed the Gulf the other night. Her captain came out to wave, this morning:)

This blue heron was the only one we saw on a post, today. The rest were wading in the shallows.
 Dock and Dine Restaurant...The Pub.

VERY narrow channels, all day...Barely room for two boats to pass...though we did!

We are very close to the ocean, when you look at it like this! What a narrow strip of land lies between us.

A peaceful morning, with still water, for a change. How nice!!

Last night I made the fixin's of a Breakfast Soufflé and put it in the fridge to cook this morning. Always better when the bread has time to absorb all the liquid. This is a complete breakfast all in one.

1 1/2 cups grated cheese (I prefer strong tasting...sharp cheddar)
6 eggs whipped with one cup of milk, and one cup of heavy whipping cream.
1/2 tspn salt
Half a loaf of whole wheat bread cubed (small)
1 Cubed smoked sausage (if you prefer) or about a cup of cooked  chopped bacon...or same of Spam, if that is your meat of preference. Can be meatless too...
Three green onions finely sliced.

Whip the eggs and milk/cream/salt together
Add the cubed bread and mix all together until all the bread is wet and mushy. Add the cheese and green onions and meat. Put it all into the container it will cook in, cover and put in the fridge overnight.
Preheat the oven (I use a convection/micro) to 375F (190C), and place the Souffle in the oven to cook. This one took about 45 mins. I recommend 40-50 mins. You don't want it to dry out too much. I did butter the inside of the pan before pouring the contents into it, but that depends on the pan you use.

Let it cool for about 10-15 mins before serving. Enjoy!

I think this may well become my favored mode of transport...what do you think? I really want to fish, in the near future! That is an oyster bed at low tide.

Coming up to a low bridge. We (make that *I*) always wonder if we will get under, despite the evidence that we already got under a 19 ft bridge, lol. Waz did lower the antennae, though.

This is a tragedy! You would think the insurance company would demand it be raised.
Yep! we got under another one...phew, lol. We had one lift, but that one was only 14 ft above low water.
Just to give you an idea of where we have come, today. I don't think you can see the channel we had to take, but you can see how complex it is! The Barrier Islands are on the bottom side of the chart. That is St Petersburg at the top of the chart.

The Sunshine Highway Bridge is spectacular. We enjoy going through Tampa Bay, even though it is very shallow (where isn't???) and the large circle we have to do to get there. We did cut the corner, and I did take photographic evidence to show that, lol...Waz made the decision to go off-channel, as we had plenty of water under us all the way to the bridge.

Shallow?? That is a white pelican in the middle of the photo. It was just standing in the shallows. We saw lots of birds doing the same, that might not otherwise be IN the water.
and we are finally out into Sarasota Bay...

We could have gone another 6 miles further, under the Sarasota bridge, but I was too tired and this looked like a good place for us to take some more naps, in the afternoon sun. We also needed to eat some lunch by now. We are anchored in 6.9ft, as you can see.

So, the sun is now going down, and we will stay here for the night, moving south tomorrow. No rain in our immediate future, we are told...It will hit 80F tomorrow...I am listening to the weather forecast as I write.
Lots to look forward to!:) Night night.
