Happy Days

We kind of just hung out yesterday afternoon. After we returned from Barnes and Noble with our lie-flat atlas, we sat had an al fresco lunch (this was almost 2.30pm) after having ascertained that katie and dean were busy and though Katie had texted me, it hadnt arrived. We were going to meet them for lunch, somewhere. Never mind...there is always dinner, and Dean only had a one day weekend this week, so it was all systems go at their boat.
We read for a while and had another cup of tea, as you do...dont you?:) and then phoned them to say we would be there (at their boat) in 1/2 hr.
We picked them up at around 7pm and drove into League City, about 10 mins away, for a dinner of Ribs that I had promised Warren we would have before departing.
This is Texas, after all!!
I didnt get the opportunity to take a photo of the ribs, but by the animal sounds coming from next to me, I would say they were a success.
We had driven past the Red River Bar-b-q and grill so many times, and had talked to locals about the best Ribs place in town, and the vote was for this restaurant. Not sure what I was expecting...well, I am sure, actually. I had envisioned a huge Bar-b-q pit (we have been to this kind before in Texas), smoke in the air and all kinds of wonferful smells. Hmmmm...not this place. The menu was confusing to us, and though Waz got what he wanted, I had a hard time making a choice. I ended up ordering two appetizers...Fried Mushrooms with buttermilk dressing, and B-b-q chicken quesadillas. Both were excellent, but too much food. I also bought a salad bar, which was kind of basic, but I guess they specialize in bar-b-q, so that was a secondary consideration???
Never mind, this was our final meal with Katie and Dean...we have enjoyed a few, now, so Im not going to complain further. All up, it was a good meal, excellent company and we are sorry we wont be seeing them again in the near future. We just hope we can connect in Florida somewhere.
They are due to quit work and move on, come December.

Looking pretty relaxed?

Dean forgot he had is ear-piece in his left ear. Not sure how he can wear that all the time...like having a fly permanently in your ear, I think, lol.
Katie is back at work today, so I hope she isnt there prematurely, after her shoulder surgery.

Today, monday, we are sitting here waiting for Elite Diesel to show themselves. They are now and hour and 1/2 late for their 8am appointment to change out the damaged hose from the Genset. Not happy with these folks at all. Warren has orders to stick like glue to them when they take that hose off and get the flashlight out to look down into it. If it shows damage at both ends, we will be asking them to change the next section too. They said they would only change out the first of the two sections. This doesnt make me happy at all...and I have said so. Not sure how you get someone like this to do something they arent prepared to do???
We did our research on the hoses exposed to high temps without cooling, and got correspondence from the Hose suppliers, which said, under no circumstances should the hose be left on. it should be replaced. Even after showing Elite all this correspondence, they disputed the facts! We will see.

The technician just showed up, after us calling his office a couple of times. Warren has disappeared down the hatch with him, and I can hear voices. I wont play fly on the wall, as I am sure he will do whatever is necessary to make sure we leave here in the best possible condition...boat, that is!

We then have to wait for the electrician to appear tomorrow, Tuesday, to see if the batteries charged enough for his and our liking, and get him to replace the dead battery. We have to get the dead one out of the 'hole' that is the lazarette (down under),first. They weigh a ton!! I know, because we redid the batteries on our boat in NZ, and that was a mission and a half.

The only things left to do now, before setting off into the sunset, as it were, are to request a final pump out from Katie's pumping company, and to pay that bill, and to settle with the Marina. We are due money back from the latter, which is always a nice feeling. Our deposit and half a months rent.

I have to do one more food shop and one more laundry. Perhaps tomorrow afternoon is the right time for that. We might just take the boat out into the Bay one more time for an All Systems check before we leave on Wednesday for offats Bayou, Galveston.
We will have five nights anchoring out before we make a slight detour to Delcambre Marina in Louisiana. The woman at the marina has been fantastic with information and loves taking her guests around on tours!:) we look forward to that.
Im off to find out what is going on down below...cant just sit here now, can I?

Will report in later!
