Back to Florida for the Car

Aieeee! Not looking forward to the return trip. 1600 miles in two round trips. There is a plus to all this....we know the route this time around.

Waz has printed up the Pt Charlotte return route for me! bless him...he will have the GPS on and will follow me.

We left the boat around 7.00am and went to the local McDonalds for breakfast, leaving there around 8.15am with full tummies. Good thing too!

Retracing our steps, this sunday morning was excellent, as there was light traffic all the way until we got to Ocala, where it got heaver. Lots of trucks! to our surprise. From there down past Tampa and on to Port Charlotte at around 2.30pm. We stopped off to see Billy and  Barb, the neighbors who had kept an eye on the car for us...always a pleasure to spend time with them:) They give good hugs!!:)

Said goodbye until next time, and retraced our road back to Brandon where we pulled into a Hampton Inn for the night. With a Bob Evans restaurant just 2 mins walk away, we ate dinner there, followed by a free strawberry dessert (the waiter gave us a coupon!!), and a 20 minute walk down the road to lighten the load, as it were:)

We slept well after watching a movie or two...Sandra Bullock movies...and one with Hugh Grant...forgettable title!

Up and at it early on Monday morning, ate breakfast at the hotel...not a good one...we both made waffles with a banana, but it was too sweet and unsatisfactory generally.
With two cars, we are now a little stressed travelling together. I had Waz in my rear view mirror and we decided that wasn't a good thing. We made a couple of stops along the way and made good time for a week day, arriving home about 2pm. Cleaned out the rental car, and returned it to Enterprise, and back to the boat. Phew. We are always grateful when we return home in one piece.

Safe and sound, and today was Tuesday. Where do the days go?

Lots of other bits and pieces: We have FINALLY been reimbursed by our medical insurance company in American dollars. We had a little bit of a fight on our hands to get them to do that. Being a NZ company, they usually reimburse in NZ dollars, but we spent US dollars. This meant that if they reimbursed us at the exchange rate at which we spent the dollars, as is policy, we would be down about $3k, with the drop in the exchange rate, right now. They saw that we were correct, and agreed to our request, thank goodness. We are grateful for some intelligent people on their end. Thank You!

Waz has made an appointment to see a dentist in the morning. He has chipped a Molar...yep..another thing! ack!

We went exploring our surroundings some more today, and ate a delightful dinner at a Japanese restaurant...Seasons of Japan. We will be back...and all for $20! for two !

Well, it is bed time again. Dentist in the morning, and then we need to clean the boat. Procrastinating on much, at the moment, but then we have been busy!

Ciao for now.

The marvelous bridge just down the road....
Looking out towards the never ending Marshes...
and down the other side towards the Marina. This is STEEP!

There are many flags represented at the Marina...but no NZ flag. Perhaps we should get them one!!

Night, Night!
