Saturday at home

After a good night's sleep, we were not in a hurry to get going this morning. We had laundry to do, but that would wait. It was warm enough to dry anything in a short time. We don't use the dryers at the Marina laundry (free though they are!), preferring to line dry our clothes.

We did decide, once the laundry was done, and I had cut Waz's hair...and Sooz's hair too, that we would go to St Simon's Island. Ok..so it meant more travel, but not much. It wasn't far...unless you count the extra miles we did going the wrong way! lol. We thought we would do without the GPS! bad move. Good move was going to the Island. It was busy with weekend folks enjoying the warmth.

Locals pointed us in the right direction for a cup of Latte and hmm...I shouldn't admit to this but...we got a pastry...a very CHOCOLATE Cake, and Peach Meringue thang for Waz. We didn't need any more calories after that...but we did go next door to the Ice Cream shop where we sampled the Bacon Ice-Cream....nice! We will be back, lol.

We did a walking tiki tour  first. Then a driving tour.

Pretty place, this tourist mecca. It isn't far from the Marina...perhaps 15 minutes driving! but it is an island. They call these the Golden Isles, the coastal islands in the lowlands.
These quaint beach shack stores had interesting things for sale.

These two little boys were selling their shell creations:)

The Pier was fairly busy...crab pots and fishing, mostly.

Further down the beach (beach?) was a total immersion baptism, taking place.

THE most gorgeous and bright yellow hibiscus I have ever seen!

Sidewalk café tables...the usual touristy things which we don't particularly like or are interested in.

Gorgeous HUGE trees hung with Spanish Moss, everywhere. They covered the roadways.

I think you will need to have money to live on the island. It has the reputation, locally, of being a snobs paradise. Not many homes under half a million...we know, we have looked! lol.

...and the beautiful Marshes. The sky is always changing, as the sky does, but we are fascinated by the clouds and the weather that we can SEE!

WE left the island and returned to THE MAINLAND, as it is called over here. We like to tour down the different streets in the Historic District of Brunswick, and finally found the house we had seen for sale on Homes.com, for $70k. I think it needs a LOT of work.
Late afternoon storm clouds, This one passed us by, fortunately.

Of course the light created all kinds of neat reflections, as we walked back to the boat...more fun!:)

I like the last one in particular!.

Well, we dined at home on Crab Cakes and salad, and enjoyed a bit or rest. Back to Florida in the morning!:(
