A Simply Stunning Friday

After the cold, wind and rain, today dawned cool and clear. We needed another blanket on the bed in the early hours, again, this time a second one! It got very much cooler in the night, and it was 62F inside the Saloon, which is ALWAYS warmer than down in our bedroom. I would think it was in the high 50's down there.

We went out for breakfast this morning. We had the choice of spending $20 or $7, and chose the latter!:) McDonalds still have their two for the price of one Egg McMuffin special on, so we went back there. It is a filling breakfast that cant be beaten for price. Waz, per usual, had the hotcakes, and finished the second muffin, both washed down with coffee. This was on the way to posting something to NZ for my mother, and a chat with the Verizon folks, and a visit to the supermarket to pick up what I missed the day before...Onions!

Waz needed to finish painting of the pump parts so that it could all be reassembled. He is leaving it overnight to harden so it can be put back together in the morning. He also painted the drive belt cover, after cleaning that up and painting it with dry galv and then white paint.

We had to go out again for a couple of bolts, just before lunch, and Waz told me about a lovely park he had seen while driving with John, the other day. We decided to go and take a look, and perhaps have a walk at the same time. WOW! What a lovely place!!!
The wind is still cool, but the day is stunning, so we park and walk along the lovely shoreline. There is also a children's playground incorporated into the whole Park, which I just loved, especially the Manatee and Cow that kids could climb all over...

A father and son had fun throwing rocks into the water.

This playground was for kids 4-12. Lovely surroundings for a playground with plenty of spaces for parent's to hover nearby in the shade, or on benches.

The playground is next to the walking path, and a perfect place to just sit and watch the kids, or the water view, where lots is always going on, on the Harbor.

The Ampitheatre

One of three piers jutting out into Charlotte Harbor. The water at the shoreline was barely 1ft deep, and only about 2-3ft at the end of the pier.

There were lots of seabirds fishing, wading and courting, along the shoreline. Fun to watch, but rather noisy at the same time...the gulls being the worst culprits, in their courting habits.

The Two bridges over Charlotte Harbor. They take you to and from Punta Gorda on one side, to Port Charlotte on the other.

We went home for lunch. I made an egg salad, a pea salad, cut some little cucumbers, and some tomatoes together with left over cooked asparagus, some romaine lettuce and thin slices of salami. Yummy!! All topped off with fresh cut pineapple.
Im about to put the dinner on. I have some Turkey breast to cook, and I just had the idea that I will egg and breadcrumb it for a change, along with some Zucchini 'pasta', tomatoes and peppers. Sound good?:)
It is getting colder, so time to close up the boat. Waz is reading for a bit and I'm going to offer him a glass of wine.  He has worked hard on the renovations today!

Ciao for now. Enjoy the evening...'
oops...did I tell you that we now have Netflix? Watched two movies so far...Mirror Mirror, which we enjoyed, and last night we watched my favorite movie...The Italian Job. If you haven't seen it, take the time:)
