Sad when you need this kind of excitement:)

We got a knock on the boat, last night. We had been expecting a knock at some stage, but not from this person!

Our hosts had received several large packages in the afternoon, which I signed for with UPS. One of them was open when I received it and wondered if I should claim it, though I knew what it was and from whence it came. I signed, nonetheless.

We had let our hosts know that they had arrived and where we put them, out of the public eye. One of the boxes was too large and cumbersome (being the open one) to take anywhere, so we left in where it was dropped, more or less. We had offered to help put it in the garage, and were expecting to be 'knocked up' for that help.

The Alarm in the house had gone off about 8.30pm, and Waz had gone around the front to see if we needed to do anything. It stopped on it's own, so we didn't fuss about it.

9.pm, the knock on the boat came. We were greeted by a flashlight carrying Sherriff, who demanded to know who we were and did we have permission to be on the dock (in the boat). We told him who we were and answered a few other questions, then ascertained that the security company had called his office to get him to check out the house alarm. He checked all windows and doors to make sure they were secure, and said goodnight to us and we thought he had left.

About 10 mins later, he reappeared and said he could smell smoke coming from the front of the house, and did we know of any reason for it? No! other than electrical fires, we couldn't visualize anything that might have been left on to catch fire.

There are three cats in the house all day, and we wondered if one of them had triggered the alarm. This wasn't the first time we had gone to check on the alarm in the house.

The Sherriff didn't want to leave, so I went down the road to a friends house, thinking she might have a key and the code for the house. She couldn't find the key to the front door, but said that the next door neighbor might have it. We called him, but no, he didn't have a key either, but her was outside now, and came to see what his nose told him, regarding the smoke. We couldn't see any smoke coming from the roof or anywhere around the house, and none of the windows or doors were hot to touch, so didn't think there was a fire in the house. It would have shown more of itself by this time, we felt.

Next, the owner's sister turns up. The alarm company couldn't raise the owner, so she is the second respondent. She let us all into the house where we checked the alarm and the zone that the alarm had tripped. Aparently, this same zone was the one that tripped last time. They will need to get that one checked out...there may be a spider living in their alarm!

With that bit of excitement, the Sherriff was gone, leaving Waz with the report for the call out, and that was it!

Our hosts were not long before returning, and we all found nothing amiss in the house, thank goodness.
A little too much excitement just before going to bed! aieeee!

It was amazing how helpless we felt, in that we could not access the property to ascertain if anything was wrong. There would be no reason for us to normally get into the home, and we wouldn't, but that feeling remains!

More excitement....

Waz had taken the Port engine exhaust to take it to the stainless fabricator shop. There is a small crack in one of the nipples that was weeping. It is the nipple that supplies water to the shaft bearings. Good to have that one taken care of... We learned this afternoon that the job is ready for pick up!

and...

We had sent one of the propellers out for balancing and checking, and heard yesterday that there was a good reason it had been vibrating. We will find out more tomorrow!

and...the pump out guy is late!! HOW DO THEY DO THAT??? Arent we on their pump-out schedule for Thursday?? It used to be Tuesday, then Wednesday, and now it will be Friday! HEavens, cant they get it right? they sure charge like wounded bulls for the service, if only they would do their job. We pay in advance...or should I say, they take our money and don't provide unless I follow up...they have horrid customer relations skills! NO communications!

BUT...
I got myself a couple of gardening jobs...oh happy place:)
First, we needed to lop the two hibiscus trees at the front entry to the hosts house. That accomplished, after going to Lowes for a pair of sharp loppers, today, and then last night, while I was waiting for the neighbor to answer the door over the alarm thing, I noticed she needed some weeding and tidying done at her front entry. Waz and I just finished that job, and we now have to get some new pots, potting mix, hose sprayer and round-up for her property and make it look even more lovely:)
Good to have that to look forward to. My poor body doesn't like all the bending though:( however good it might be for me!!

We came home and had a swim in the pool for a bout 20 mins...it was about 85F today, and humid, so the swim was most welcome and refreshing.

I made  100% whole wheat and banana muffins for breakfast this morning. It is challenging to bake with no sugar, but the two bananas did the job nicely.
They tasted great!

Our breakfast, this morning.

I had a haircut appointment at Fisherman's Village, this morning at 11am, so we made our way over there for that, and then came home via Lowes (the loppers) and Sam's club (fruit and veg). We also needed a new expanda hose for the boat.
We washed the boat yesterday afternoon, and found that the existing hose just isn't long enough, so we found a 100ft hose which scrunches up into a small space for storage. We had one before, but it broke, so we know these things have a relatively short life.

Pine Pollen is everywhere and covers everything with a find yellow. One of the reasons for washing the boat, but we have also been rather slack in the grooming department.
Waz has been sneezing like crazy and taking Claritin to relieve the sneezles.

We sat up late last night and watched the Ice Dancing at Sochi, along with the Luge and some other events. We are looking forward to watching the women's skating tonight, for Gold. We already know the result, but it will be fun to see them all.

Fog is forecast for the morning...oh joy! It is Friday tomorrow...again!

We are preparing to go to a Loopers Get -together on Saturday, which should be fun...around 50 people expected at this Cape Coral location. Always nice to hear the stories from those who have done the loop, and also the hear from and meet those who are planning, like us, to do it this year.

We met Andre on his lovely refitted Nova Scotia Lobster Boat, yesterday. He and his wife have lived aboard for 4 yrs, and the boat is now for sale. They are preparing to go back to Canada...we will cross in front of their home, apparently, and they have invited us to look them up! Thanks Andre! We will!

Fisherman's Village was a zoo yesterday. We are always amazed at the crowds there. Len says they have more than 2 million people there each year. I can believe it!

It was lovely out on the water...in fact, it has been gorgeous out there all week.

Our friend the Great Blue Heron was on sentry duty outside the restaurant, per usual

Standing near the fuel dock, looking towards the entry to the marina at Fisherman's Village

This Yellow Crested  Night Heron didn't seem too unhappy that I was close and taking photos, while he sunned himself on the side of the mangroves:)

Puppies galore! This fellow had three large ones on his not so big boat! The poodle was a real lover!

Well, the sun is going down, and I need to think about what leftovers I am going to serve up for dinner. We didn't eat lunch until almost 2.30pm, today, so we aren't that hungry...yet!

Ciao for now.
