Cactus are Blooming Loverly

It seems that it is Cactus blooming time and all the garden shops have their cactus 'gardens in pots' on display.
I particularly liked this one! I guess this is something I could grow on the boat? It would still need to be stuck to something so it doesn't tip over. I am also a little challenged for flat surfaces to put such a thing. I have to say, that cacti are fascinating (show me a plant that isn't!!) and I love the variety of their blossoms. I thought I would share a few photos of them and some of the brightly colored cacti we found today at the Lowes Garden Shop.
Waz was off finding the Chlorine tabs for the Aircon units...he puts half a tab per unit in, per week, when we are using the aircon all the time.
Anytime he doesn't need my help to find something, I am off finding my own things to photograph.
Here are a few of the lovelies I found this morning.

Mother Nature really cant be beaten when it comes to color combinations and design, can she?

Don't these ones look like undersea creatures. These are grafted cacti! Stunning colors!!

We had a number of 'things' to do on our rounds this morning. I needed to find a shoe repair...which we found up a side road. The owner and his wife are from Bethlehem...as she put it..."Where Jesus came from"...When I asked where she was from:) and they run a strictly CASH ONLY business, I was informed. They are sewing some new Velcro (loop side only) straps on my only good pair of summer 'nice' shoes. Lets hope they do a good job!! $9 thanks!

We also had to visit our favorite store...the Marine Trader...to see if we can find a raw water pump. We didn't find one, but we did find some new Kubota oil and fuel filters that were only $3-7 each. Waz is on his way back there to buy them right now, having checked the price of new ones on e-Bay, which said they were $45 each, there.
Our next stop was Office Depot where we found the DVD R's we were wanting to transfer all the videocam footage to for safe keeping and for future use. We have decided to use the videocam more, rather than invest in a GoPro. We can still mount the cam onto the boat to record what we are doing.

I wish we had thought of that when going through the Industrial Lock in New Orleans, to record the mayhem, which shall forever be etched into our collective memories.

We are having 'issues' with our master toilet AGAIN. We would love to put a Vacuflush in (like the airline toilets) but cant afford the $1,200 - $1,400 for a new system. It isn't just the toilet bowl we are talking about here!

Thinking outside the loo, as we like to put it, we are trying to be creative within the budget. Plans are hatching...stay tuned!!

Lunch on the Fly Deck...gentle wave action, 85F, a nice breeze and we just want to take a nap! Don't we sound like 'old' people?:)

I would like to go tiki-touring this afternoon, but it is 3.45pm already. My, how the days go by so fast!! We have seen somewhere new we want to take the dinghy...this might not happen now as it is so late.

We will go for a walk at about 4.30-5pm...it seems that is one of our new habits. It is a great time to walk, with the sun still out, but the air cooling.

Right now I am going to do some more cleaning...I spent most of yesterday wiping, cleaning and conditioning the leather and vinyl and the wood paneling on the walls. All is sweet in the forward section of the boat now. There is Vinyl everywhere...walls, ceilings, window surrounds, pilot house, and it is cream colored, so you can see every mark! It has now been conditioned to keep it in good shape and make it easy to wipe down. It is amazing where you find mould...even on the high gloss wooden wall panels! They are now mould-free! Yay!

Ciao for now.
