Vegetarian Hens and packaging overkill

I am one of the biggest proponents of less is more. Interestingly, I found this carton (with eggs inside - brown eggs, by the way) at a convenience store a week ago.  I was somewhat flabbergasted when I opened the top layer...see below.

A Bit hard to see here, but the inside has a protective layer cap for the eggs

So...this is what the carton (plastic, obviously) looks like when opened.

I have kept this so that I can contain eggs for when we are on the move and keep them safe. So in that respect it is a great container, but for ordinary everyday eggs, it is an absolute travesty and waste.

Something that gets on our goat here at the Marina, and I did mention this once before...there is no recycling. We have not been able to find a recycling place anywhere near us, so assume, perhaps wrongly, that there are no such things in this area??

Now for the funny part! (well, some of us think it is funny!)

Vegetarian Fed Hens!
According to Waz's wisdom, we now know why there are no vegetarians left in texas! Yes! They have all been fed to the hens:)

How else does one explain vegetarian Fed Hens?

Off to JoAnn's for more perusing the aisles and to buy some fabric for chair covers and maybe some draperies.
Will keep you posted on that one.
We are about to close up the boat and turn the aircon on also...today is shaping up to be a hottie! and it is only 9.30am.

Ciao.
