Detailing et al

The detailers moved onto the boat on wednesday. Well, more accurately, One detailer (a mexican fellow) moved onto the boat. This meant everything that was outside had to go somewhere inside, inlcuding all the cushions on the outside settees. Fortunately we dont use the for'ed cabins, so most of it went down there. Yesterday, friday, another fella brought the pontoon so that he could start work sanding the hull. The Mexican had done most of the top half and has now started waxing and polishing. This stage is quite exciting, as for the first time, we can now see a reflection on the body, and soon will see the same on the hull.

It is quite disruptive having all this going on...though necessary.
For one thing, we cant do our laundry and hang it out on the back line...there is milky water being sprayed all over, and with the wind, it gets in some funny places. We also cant put anything back outside for the same reason. We also cant leave doors and windows open, so the boat has been locked down with the aircon on all day...this gets a bit expensive, even though we only run the main cabin unit (there are four units on the boat).
To get away from it all, we have made a few excursions out of our immediate area. Some have  ulterior motives..no wait, make that all of them, now that I think about it.

On the way to find a second hand book shop, the day we went to Academy, we found this quaint old home/book shop in the Historic part of League City, not far from here.
It was lovely, on such a hot day, to find some large shady trees. It was 5 mins off 10am, and they opened at 10am, but we couldnt wait around, and it didnt look there were too many paperbacks, which we sought. We did, however, sit and watch the Squirrels for a short period. They are such fun to watch, and such industrious little animals.

When we approached, we could get very close before they decided to high tail it (ha!) up the nearest large tree.

Now, you know this is Texas, so you wont be surprised by much that you see!
However, we must record some of those that fascinate and those that irritate and especially those that are a bit 'over the top', as it were; like this pick up.

And of course you have to have a Sherrif! These Pelicans are all over Seabrook...

...and so are this kind...and the real kind...
