End of the week

Today is Friday, 19th July.
Yesterday, being Thursday, was the first bright and sunny day we had since last week. A glorious day, but no hotter than about 92F, which is fine by us. Nothing much to report for the rest of the week...back and forth to the hardware store (dont you just love old fashioned Harware Stores? I can take hours looking at everything:) ) for screws, drill bits and other essentials for doing the jobs that Waz was engrossed in.
Thurday was a 'down day' for me. I was sick and tired of being inside in an airconiditoned environment...couldnt go out because the detailers are everywhere, and I cant set up the sewing machine because there is nowhered to put it. The salon is full off the 'stuff' that would normally live on the outside, so there is less room than normal. I did got on a foraging expedition to the Baybrook Mall (again) looking for outdoor fabric and 'things' for attaching other things etc.
I needed to walk, and waz joined me before dinner. It had cooled off enough, wasnt raining, and seemed the perfect time to walk.
We went via the Namibians boat to see if Veronica was ok. Roy had left for other pastures (work related) on the previous thurday and we hadnt seen her since the monday prior to that. We suggested she join us for the rest of our walk and come back to our boat for Happy Hour. She was glad of the distraction and exercise, though is was pretty humid, and admitted to feeling lonely. Good thing we went by! She came back to the boat, drank and talked...she is a Chardonnay drinker, and we are Sauvignon Blanc'ers...but mostly I am getting to be a Cider drinker. We even hate to admit that we have some Corona in the new fridge upstairs. It doesnt come out very often, but on particularly hot days, it is the perfect drink.
By 8pm the worms were biting, so I made a huge salad with all kinds of goodies in it, and pan fried some lovely fillet steak. As there were only two slabs of steak, I cut them into thin slices, once they had rested, and put them in the salad and drizzled lemon infused olive oil and pear vinegar over the lot..WOW! You should try it! lovely and fresh tasting. You do  need lots of fruit in your salad to make the most of both as a dressing.
We enjoyed a good chin wag and meal together and at around 11 o'clock, we said goodnight. The company was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed the similarities we have with them and learning the differences. The best thing was that we laughed a lot. Laughter is definitely the best medicine for what ails you:)

Today dawned overcast and the detailers were her at 8am again. They are on the cockpit and also the front hull, so we are constantly 'swinging' on the ropes that they are using to haul the boat in the direction they want to enable better access to the hull.  It is nice to see the high gloss of the hull and the water now reflected in it. This didnt happen with the chalky oxidation on the hull and all the brightwork.
Waz and I decided it was a good time, around 9am, to go walking. With the overcast conditions, the heat is lower, and the humidity is a bit less today. Rule number one should be...no matter what, do not go without a hat and sunscreen!
Of course, 2/3 the way into our walk, the sun came out hot and furious, and we didnt have any protection. We had run into..almost literally...the fellow we had helped find light, the other night. He recognized us and we ended up having a conversation for over an hour, with him. We moved into one of the Cabanas for shade and some breeze, and enjoyed learning about what brings him down this way from the city, and what he does for a living that enables him to enjoy the lifestyle.
Turns out, he is a property developer and commercial and home builder since the late 70's. We enjoyed hearing what he had to say regarding the current property market and that he has moved from building high end homes to buying doer-uppers. He works with some investors who have next to no knowledge about the building industry, and this adds an irritant to his life which he says he doesnt need. I guess we can empathize!
No doubt we will run into him again on our walks as we tend to go that same way, being the longest.
I have to say, the swimming pool looked very inviting at 10;45am...nobody there and lots of shade under the trees. I might be tempted...we havnt yet. Mostly there are too many kids there. I dont like swimming in pee!
Sorry, no photos today. Will get busy over the next couple of days, I promise.
