Sewing et al

It has been in the plans, (if not the budget) to purchase a good used sewing machine so that I can make new curtains, table covers etc, and even stitch canvas that needs restitching (of which there is plenty , on the boat). the curtains are pleated and custom, so it isnt like I could go and purchase ready mades to put in their place. This is the fabric on the current ones.

However...
I have found some fabric I like in ready-mades  at Target and only $24 per drop...54" wide and 'normal' curtain length. I figure I could make them over to fit the windows here. Using the old ones as a template, this shouldnt be brain surgery.
First, I have to find a good used sewing machine (preferably Bernina/Viking). Then comes the issue of where to store the thing! The nooks and crannies are filling fast.
The Salon table is gloss finished, so that needs a cover, pronto. It is holding the laptop and assorted other things, right now, all of which can scratch the surface.
I remember my mother making a cover for our mahogany coffee table, when my brother was little. He suffered from Bronchitis, as a kid, and in the middle of winter would bring all his 'tools' inside and hammer (yes!) on top of the table. The table is still in excellent condition today and still lives with mother:). Now that I think about it...he also did some sawing on that there table, also.

This morning the Dignhy motor arrived back from it's complete service. They delivered to the dock. They would not, however, remount it or step foot on the boat (This is a litigious society we live in !). We found that it didnt really fit in the trunk (boot) of the rental car, so are grateful for their cooperation in delivering. We havnt tried her out yet, but keeping our fingers crossed we can now do some tiki touring up the creek and beyond, into Clear Lake, and this other little lake we know is under a bridge...Taylor Lake.

Also on our evening saunter, last night, we 'popped in' on a Namibian couple living on their boat in one of the covered docks, way over the other side of the marina. They have lived outside of Namibia for more than 20 yrs, but still have the 'accent':) We look forward to our 6pm drinkies and nibbles with them tonight.
