Another Gorgeous Day in Paradise!

It actually got up to 92F today! Yes, a bit hot, and great when the wind was blowing straight at us, but not when it wasn't, if you know what I mean.
We waited again this morning for the tide to rise, as we had some VERY narrow places to negotiate. I love the early morning in the marshes...all the birds calling and wading in the shallows along the banks. It is fabulous to get up and find that you are all alone out there:)
Well, we weren't quite alone, last night. There was a yacht parked up a bit further around than us, and we couldn't really see more than his mast most of the time. We watched him leave just before we pulled anchor, and we didn't catch up with him all day, so he must have been going faster than us! We did see them docked just outside Savannah, though, as we went past.

I took this photo just on 7am. A small boat had motored at great speed very close to the boat..that is the wake, right there!

My photo of the departure, looking back. We were parked on the right hand side. We had all the screens up most of the day, due to the presence of the flies and other insects. Sorry, most of the photos are taken through the eisenglas or screens.
Leaving the anchorage and making our way in relative deep water.:) Mon is happy! for now!
You can see where we went, on the right side, along the dotted line, to put down anchor just at the crossroads at the right. The yacht went up the other arm where it breaks off. Lots of water up there.

Typical of the islands in the Sounds. Lovely in the sun!

Another Sound...Green Island Sound. This sound isn't that big, in the scheme of things, compared to yesterday.
Again the yellow arrows indicate strong current. They sure were! We were struggling against some and down to below 6 knots at some times, but others we were surfing in about 10 knots.

True Georgia Style. Riverside!

This river area was just stunning. On the right there is a restricted access area, so something precious lives there!

A New bridge, which we could just slip under:)

Stunning riverside homes with glorious old trees for shade. Very necessary in the heat!

I guess this is a resort? Sure looks like it. Not much else in the area that we could see. This was a way outside Savannah.

Our chart looked more like this today, than yesterday. We were forever moving into yet another river.

What a beauty!

This is an enormous facility for handling enormous boats, obviously. Check out the boats docked there!
oops...this is not a boat! but I think I would need a large staff to run this place, don't you?

Ok..this time! A gorgeous yacht..much bigger than she first appears.

What one might call Artful!

WOW! All these boats are at least 80+feet

The person gives a greater perspective, doesn't he?

and one last one of the lovely yacht.

We knew we were coming into Savannah when we found this large Marina and the condos along the river.

The first cemetery that we have come across, river side.

...and the last bridge in Georgia before crossing into South Carolina, not far up the river. The indicator on the right side of the bridge said 26ft, but it sure didn't look that tall...if doesn't , right?

Well, it was, fortunately. There are large fines for getting a requested opening when it isn't necessary!

What a pretty place..this was two houses this side of the bridge. I guess they have a grand stand view!

I have to say I was a little nervous about going under this bridge, but the gauge did say 26ft. We went for the middle! and there was a small boat coming straight at us. Fortunately he did the decent thing and waited for us to go through...thanks!

It sounded horrid, going under the bridge..as you can see, the treads are not solid, and lots of vehicular traffic overhead.

I do love these homes along the river.....hey look! a Palm tree!

The large tanks are part of the Port of Savannah, down the Savannah River. We turned from the Wilmington River, directly across the Savannah River.

Here we go...the Wilmington is on the right...we are about to cross it...and then straight ahead across the top river..Savannah River.

We have to watch out for these little shallow areas with 'stuff' on them...sometimes they go out into the river a long way. There are not always poles to keep us out of trouble, but we watch that depth sounder like a hawk...well, I do! lol

There we go...right across the two rivers....

and as we were crossing the Savannah River, here comes a large ship! Amazing that they have to come so far up the river to the port.

and here is your daily Dolphin shot!
 and another one:)
They were very playful...and the males were huge!

Yet another river, but we are on the home stretch now...literally. We had turned off the path to park in this river.

And anchors down. That is Hilton Head Island in the distance on the left middle...and Daufuries Island straight ahead

Hilton Head with the lighthouse. That is the ferry, on the water.

This boat coming up the river is one we crossed Okeechobee with..what seems so long ago, now. We heard them making contact on the radio, so we hailed them and had a wee chat. Good to stay in touch.

Our neighbors were here before us. We are parked up river from them. This is a popular river for all kinds of things...lots of little boats, jetskis and even sunset cruises, tonight.

Waz enjoying the last of the sunshine after dinner the fly deck.

We totally relaxed in the waning light..it was the perfect end to the day. A glass of wine with our Hanburger patties, cole slaw, avo and tomato. Coffee and dessert to finish it off.

A second sunset cruise boat went by us as the sun finally went behind the marshes.

That's it for today, folks. We are on our way to Beaufort tomorrow. A night in a marina will be most welcome..we need to wash the boat and do laundry et al..and shopping!:0
